I mean, I get that it feels awful. But if you wait to be invited on merit you will probably die waiting as long as guys who have every reason to feel insecure have anything to do with selecting. Take the invite and shine. The reasons for invites can change from there.

I'm saying all this as a guy who has had it up-to-fucking-here with mediocre dudes ruining things. Nobody with any sense wants to work with them. Ugly as quotas seem on the surface, they're an elegant way to systematically sideline people who *really* need sidelining.
