With the news about Weinstein I can’t help but wonder how sexual harassment and discrimination differs across industries; has anyone looked?

Looks like the NYTimes collected some data on how men self-report their sexual harassment. They split it out by type of industry but not actual industry. According to the report it's about 60% worse in "blue collar" workplaces: https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/12/28/upshot/sexual-harassment-survey-600-men.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=first-column-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news …pic.twitter.com/BAnP6xshSZ

This makes me curious about how “lying in surveys” differs across industries, especially blue vs white collar

Yes - to @noUpside’s point some industries like Wall Street haven’t even had their moment confronting this.

I think it may be a composite effect: blue collar workers are less likely to be educated about it being actually bad, and thus more open with admitting it. Whereas white collar workers might do it less but also know it’s more wrong, so two factors pushing the split wider

I find myself moderately skeptical that white collar workers have greater access to an understanding of ethical behavior and workplace sexual harassment than blue collar workers do.

Did you end up reading the Ms. Report I recommended? Whole section on how to write surveys where men would admit to bad behavior, which I found quite fascinating.

No! I still need to get to it. The NYTimes touches on a their methodology a bit which tries to account for that. I guess I'm moderately skeptical that truth-telling capacity can explain the variance completely either – my gut is that they actually just do behave differently
