Star Wars IS consistently gold in my world for text threads arguing about leadership and management decisionmaking and I enjoyed this year's version of those.

There was an effect in the extended universe books where because serial books were written by different authors, one author would set up characters and backstories and then the next would get rid of them all to do their own thing.. Star Wars now has that quality in its movies

Also an alternate version where the craven head sithlord was female and also Holdo was instead maybe more of an Ackbar would have been interesting. The head sithlord archetype seems too exaggerated and rigid.

I keep thinking Rey could’ve just taken over the first order with Kylo, and been like “ok but Imma call you Ben and if you want to be powerful we gotta also have justice, starting with the mining planets.” She’s stronger than he is.

Just re-watched TFA and I'd forgotten how that movie was basically The Search For Luke all the way through, starting with the title crawl. Honestly, the first scene of TLJ is a good visual metaphor for how the it was going to deal with the themes and characters from TFA...
