Poe was the most tedious/tiresome character I just mean you go to the movies to see the Star War like when we were kids and his presence made me feel like I was just in the regular world feeling tired

The whole thing was actually too long and I think it's because Rian Jackson wanted to make as much Star Wars as possible while he had the chance AND ALSO wanted to remake To Catch a Thief at the same time. Too much.

Star Wars IS consistently gold in my world for text threads arguing about leadership and management decisionmaking and I enjoyed this year's version of those.

There was an effect in the extended universe books where because serial books were written by different authors, one author would set up characters and backstories and then the next would get rid of them all to do their own thing.. Star Wars now has that quality in its movies

Also an alternate version where the craven head sithlord was female and also Holdo was instead maybe more of an Ackbar would have been interesting. The head sithlord archetype seems too exaggerated and rigid.

Probably an unpopular point of view but I think Benicio Del Torro's performance was the most underrated. Seemingly nobody liked the thief at all. A hard acting job well done.

He inherits from Han and Lando but shows how lucky the resistance got to have morally aligned allies in the underworld in V, VI, and VII

Also, without the Thief, the entire movie would have been morally cartoonish with everyone on clearly drawn sides.

I got the sense Johnson had a list of scenes he wanted to write/shoot and knew he most likely only had one movie to make.

Ya I agree on everything from this thread. So much was a rehash of older plot lines.

I just rewatched Rogue One and realized I way prefer it to the other new ones. The whole plot is fresh and all the important characters die for the greater cause, which makes it a much better story.
