Earlier this year I got it into my head that I should try to track down the status of the Genera OS https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Genera_(operating_system) … to see whether it could be made more usefully available to the world — a brief thread/storm on what I learned:
The IP, originally created/owned by Symbolics, has changed hands a few times. It is now owned by a fellow by the name of John Mallery, and the company http://www.symbolics-dks.com/ continues in lisp OS-related maintenance and customer support.
Mallery is presently (and fairly) uninterested in doing anything else with Genera (such as licensing it to build new SBC lisp machines, etc.) Perhaps at some point in future "the best OS dev environment" shall be available once more.
