I never worry that I should remember to bring my lights. Or charge them. Or take them in with me. I don't need a lock. Or a key. Or do maintenance. The tires are nicely inflated and ready to go. I don't worry that I may have locked it up in a risky place.

Learning that I can also earn airline miles (alaska) for every trip is an additional game changer. At this rate I see myself bicycling LA in a jiffy, Hey LA, what's up, we're overdue.pic.twitter.com/7OwvwrmRM4

Also tbc I get nothing from sharing this. I just like bicycles a whole lot and this was super buried in the UI. People should know about this.

Using HubWay in Boston is a similar experience. Especially great for one way trips: take the T (+ helmet) in one direction, ride back in the other. Regrettably, the bikes are too heavy to be used in Berkeley :(
-
Aw! I have GoBiked around Berkeley somewhat and found it to be decent, though the specific terrain makes a big difference. I wish there were more docks, though. (I know they're working on it.) I love the continuous gear shifter which helps.

You should take a look at bike sharing in Shanghai. It's light years ahead in convenience, cost, ease of use, integration to QR, payments etc.pic.twitter.com/WIEVut2DpX

I've certainly read many articles, however I am out of date since it's been several years since I lived there. Anything else you'd share?
-
Didn't know you'd lived in Shanghai! It's just all around impressive. Scale, ubiquity, level of competition and innovation between the bike sharing cos. I hope SFs program matches it

They are never at MacArthur BART when I'm returning home in the evening

-
It seems to be a hard inventory management problem. If you add too many bikes you run out of docks. And docks take up a ton of space
-
There's plenty of space but yeah rebalancing is the hard problem

If only I didn't have to take a bus to get to a dock... I know they're expanding (and they can't be everywhere) but they're conspicuous in their absence in this end of town.
