Testing making hard boiled eggs in an electric kettle. If this works it's going to take breakfast to unseen heights.
There's a chemical engineer's undergrad party trick; an egg put in a styrofoam cup of initially boiling water will, at steady state, become a hard boiled egg in room-temperature water

As in as the water cools it will still be boiling the egg inside? You don't change the water, I assume.
-
Just transferring heat to the egg. You don't change the water.
-
It occurs to me that you could put the egg in a thermos and not mess around with cooking things in the kettle directly.
-
Caveat your later refreshment/hydration, but yes this is the idea.
-
The real question is whether it actually works well
