So on board with this. LTE everything (or: WHY is my main machine the most poorly-connected?)https://twitter.com/corbett/status/924700663208034304 …

I assume you’re an outlier in that your laptop is your “main machine.”

I would depart for the iPad on the basis of connectivity alone if not for dumb things like connector compatibility with my line of work

Something tells me that your “line of work” is also probably an outlier. I’m with you all the way. Just not getting my hopes up.

I still don't quite see why laptops can't follow watches, phones, and iPads in terms of being always-connected.

I assume this is more an issue of available network bandwidth. The laptop is designed to be a mobile device.

Because obviously you're going to have a phone, and Apple is a phone company that makes laptops.

I'll still also have a phone. This argument doesn't address my LTE-connected iPad's existence either.

I don't want to not have a pocket computer to take everywhere. I want to also be able to do laptop work without worrying where wifi is.

A phone hotspot is an extra bit of friction, battery drain, lowers performance, and a device to carry around.

While I agree with this concept, I still enjoy having gigabit fiber at home. LTE will have a hard time beating that.

plus I’d think the larger laptop formfactor will permit excellent high gain LTE antenna+MIMO/diversity for much better throughput.

I would agree with, but Apple seems to have forgotten how to make WiFi work on 2016 laptops. Makes me question LTE ability.
