I have dreams of starting a cafe with business-class seat setups for everyone. Mostly so @obra has a great place to work from :)

I genuinely think this would be amazing and have extensive notes on how to execute. Please tell me if you're doing this.

Pitch: Keyboardio retail showroom & airplane-themed workplace café ;)
-
well, restaurants have high failure rates and high capital costs, so should be an easy transition from hardware startup, yeah? :D
-
on the other hand, you can easily replicate up front hourly payment for the seat.
-
Also for 'grammability I bet bentos would be a cute "airplane meal." Also cool purple LED lighting. My friends..
-
is an in flight entertainment system a plus or a minus? not that you've suckered me into doing this yet, mind you :)
-
If we're truly thinking like airlines, it depends on the cost/licensing right? But if optimizing productivity.. yes plz spare monitors!

-
I'm here for the "also has a neat little Cubby on the back"

All I'm saying is that you can do better than economy. These are actually not unreasonably priced.

If you try to leave the airplane before the end of the trip, you die. You’re stuck. Hard to recreate with, e.g., a coffee shop.
-
I wonder if paying up front hourly for your seat and meal would do something for the commitment and utilization..
-
You could post a bond. Pay $1000, get $980 refunded if you leave more than 8 hours later.
