Thinking about disaster preparedness. There are a million lists — I've rarely seen one include a simple car battery & inverter for power.

Another clumsy thing about the branded & packages car starter type batteries for astro use is dumb high resistance connectors.
Yeah I think deep cycle is obviously a requirement for this case. You can get deep cycle car batteries - my intention to imply that

Don't see need for marine. No clearly better chemistry than lead acid it seems.

Also nothing wrong with a big bank of deep cycle batteries. But once they're drained that's it unless you have solar or something

Which is cheap to have, and solar is actually already on most lists I've seen.

Very regionally dependent. Most power outages in the PNW are during the winter, heavy cloud cover so not that useful
