Thinking about disaster preparedness. There are a million lists — I've rarely seen one include a simple car battery & inverter for power.

Presumably those belong to the owners of the vehicles? What is this, some kind of sole-survivor scenario?

I've actually seen survivor/prepper websites which are centered on guns as the first thing you need. They're serious. So nobody can steal your canned tuna. So some comic extrapolated that all you need for survival is a gun; then you can take everything else you need.

Stealing the batteries from all my neighbors' cars was not the first thing that comes to mind on my disaster preparedness list. Assuming I stay at home & wait out the disaster response (i.e. the California Big One), UPS's with external connect to deep cycle battery is my plan.
