Thinking about disaster preparedness. There are a million lists — I've rarely seen one include a simple car battery & inverter for power.

1. It's too complicated for easy lists 2. Doesn't match usual timescale (<24hrs, 72hrs) 3. Lists are location-specific (home, work, car)

It's a good idea if it works for your lifestyle. Uninterruptible power supplies can be a slicker solution. It depends how you're prepping.

I've often wondered about that. On the other hand, I've also destroyed a pile of clothes with a leaking car battery. And hydrogen explodes.

I wonder if these lists are designed to exclude dangerous things. They usually include bleach, but not guns or antibiotics, right?
