The Hypercard combined with QuickTime which was being built in 1997 before Jobs killed it could have been a different path.

I'm aware. I even used HyperCard myself as a preteen. I'm all for nostalgia, but I think it's more helpful to look forward.

I was suckered into believing AppleScript was this. Then Automator. Also IFTTT. I think today's OS are way too primitive for where we are.
