I hope: more people from backgrounds currently underrepresented in tech are championed, introduced, uplifted, mentored, funded

I think some people are tending to react to this news by being more guarded, afraid, unlikely to engage: this seems like the wrong takeaway

Feels like a moment for a small Valley employment law firm to make a name for themselves as aggressive & *progressive* counsel for startups.
-
To expand on that a bit: cheap, "off the shelf" legal advice is (1) mostly what startups get and (2) inherently conservative.
-
It'd be interesting to see
@clerkyinc or something similar explicitly promote their HR advice as being less conservative, more pro-D&I. -
(hiring/recruiting tools are starting to do this, which is great, but not so much law firms that I've seen.)
-
(would love to be wrong and see examples of pro-D&I employment law firms!)

A useful question here might be: Is there an industry that does a better job here? How did they get there? What are their best practices?

And if we can copy then without the stereotypical salary decline, that'd be great.pic.twitter.com/h2uX58IELt
