These numbers aren't what we can conceive of being able to live on in the US in USD but it's a different scenario in practice
I'm well aware of the difference in cost of living, and going from reports by labor groups.
They also have to work significantly longer hours than what we'd consider normal, which would be another incentive.
Furthermore, housing is often provided to factory workers in addition. I would live in the dorms I've seen.
