MIT just disbanded Senior House, the most wonderful community of artists geeks & weirdos. Not a penny of my money is ever going there again.

One can only take a long view at the results of the institutional decisions and it becomes pretty clear that "MIT Culture" is not valued.
At best it is not prized; at worst, the institution is actively hostile toward the things that have made it so legendary.

A misguided push to be like their 'peer institutions.' Never mind that no one can believe how distinctive the school sounds vs theirs.

I'm not per se a preservationist: every organization must grow and change. But in this case I do think the specifics are short-sighted.

I've never had any official affiliation with MIt, but I've always felt at home there. Less so with each of these moves.
