Sort of makes the suburbs a self fulfilling prophecy. Even if you wanted to try to raise kids in a city it's extremely expensive
In this case "Boston" is playing the role of one of the "suburbs" - the cost of living difference between the two cities isn't funny

Boston is not that much cheaper than SF and the gap is closing quickly.

In real estate, sure - taking into account daycare and school accessibility etc?

Almost everything comes back to housing. Day care is more expensive when people have to live farther away
