Is anyone talking about how to avoid this subtle creeping effect? Needs to go beyond "broaden followers" - more about avoiding calcificationhttps://twitter.com/starsandrobots/status/848252047778390016 …

If there's one salient takeaway I have from using twttr for all these years, it's that it's easy to become strongly convinced of your views

Not research, but CS Peirce's article "The Fixation of Belief" is one of my favs on the subject, esp from III on. http://www.peirce.org/writings/p107.html …

I've learned to just log off when the echo starts getting too loud. Wokeness anxiety from being in my bubble too long probably isn't healthy

This is helpful short-term, even so I find long term I am much more confident of particular beliefs and surprise myself this way sometimes

One of Twitter's corporate values is "Seek diverse perspectives." I can't say the company always did it, but it is a useful admonition.

I particularly like how "Seek diverse perspectives" is in the active voice. Without deliberate action, you languish in familiar thoughts.

If we accept a home of our own making / familiar habit leads to indolence.

Yeah but I can seek diverse perspectives but also resolutely believe "they're wrong / just don't understand" - how to protect from THAT?
