So every agency that has a "something" in its remit does that, because they can, and bureaucracy rewards CYA.

It's not like there's a choice between multiple mitigations: FAA, mil, local/fed LE will all do their own things.

So we end up defending against what most benefits the agencies and policies rather than the largest risks.

Again, it's not a trade-off. We will defend against some remote threats simply because it's easy for agency to do.

And if that agency doesn't actually have anything to do w/the less remote threats, what's the harm? Crying wolf?
