I want a dictionary that functions like the unix command `apropos` — that tells me what other words are similar to the word I'm thinking of

more like a prefix/suffix dictionary or one that includes word families.
@Chris_Gammell a thesaurus pairs words by meaning — I would want it to include adjacent meanings also.

incidentally, a good example is that you want to see "thesaurus" linked from the entry for "dictionary"
