wait.. that's not a question

Okay-yyyy... Have you ever designed, or considered, origami circuits on polyamide so you can alternate design by re-folding?
-
sorry, I guess the original tweet was unclear. Im prepping for a talk asking what people want to know about making PCBs beautiful
-
eg Circuit Classics which I designed or a PCB I designed for octopart (called the octopart card) before that

Hi! What makes a PCB beautiful to you?
-
errrr hm — a bunch of things CAN make a PCB beautiful, but I'm trying to give a talk so my personal views weight slightly less
-
a well-designed functioning circuit is usu step 1; visual design techniques can come in (per my Circuit Classics &c work)
-
trying to address what people might want to know about techniques for creating a beautiful PCB across a variety of metrics
-
.. for what "beautiful" is
-
yeah, thanks! what tools do youusually use for debugging?

Free vs professional PCB design tools: which has greater artistic/design versatility?
-
good question. they are all bad
-
Ok then- mounting holes on small boards: yes or no? Engineer in me says form follows function. Artist in me hates them.
-
:) how much do you like creating snap-fittings out of plastic? maybe I need to develop a problem with drills
-
I don't have any inherent issue, so not sure how to answer.

Should I have a text label (e.g. "R1", "C2", etc.) next to every part on the board?
-
this is a super question
-
I think I read somewhere that Limor Fried leaves labels off for aesthetic reasons. (I like that style, but it sometimes feels "wrong".)
-
depends on what you're going for! :) (check out http://openrandom.org for the ultraminimalist other end of what can be)
