because running things on-prem requires a team to manage it and capex for hardware to run it.

we're in the middle ground. cloud stuff is reliable enough to dwarf those costs, but unreliable enough to still have issues.

and your git server being down isn't that big of a deal. Your code review system being down sucks though.

My guess would be that the git repo is not the issue, it's all the ancillary services (notification, PRs, bug tracking, …).
