One thing that appears to have driven this is the availability & spread of sharing design files amongst mfgs, for physical goods.

So why does the US/West seem so obsessive about desktop fabrication? Where are my licensable and forkable plans for cell phone designs?

Anyway I want to say that instead of discussing Shanzai only in fear and disgust, it might be time to look at what makes it so effective

@starsandrobots That segment was so badly researched. My wife worked for the company that invented them. The Shenzhen crowd simply stole it. -

@conradyoder@holliemaea I think my argument is that the system of IP in use in China currently may be better for innovation. -
