Cuff, it feels to me like some are read in a flat way — each sentence, perfectly pronounced, so that you can pause/resume at any point.

It seems a bit better when the speaker adds a bit of storytelling/emotion to the reading. But that can't be all?
-
@starsandrobots convinced it's 85%+ narrator. I'll listen to almost anything by a few great narrators, but not some fav books by bad ones. -
@wendyck ooh! do you have/keep a list of these narrators? -
@starsandrobots Grover Gardner & Wil Wheaton are always good. Also past winners of Audie Solo Narration awards, ie: http://reviews.libraryjournal.com/2015/05/media/audio/2015-audie-award-winners-announced/ …

@starsandrobots I would love to hear your audiobook recommendations -
@natfriedman ooh I <3 the audiobooks. I'm finishing China in 10 Words (so late) and Big Roads right now if you haven't read either.. -
@natfriedman relatedly/meta (tools) I was a moderate Audible fiend but am now a humongous Hoopla fiend https://www.hoopladigital.com

@starsandrobots I’ve picked other books simply based on who read it. The performance is just as important as the words. -
@N1FIY any favorite narrators? -
@starsandrobots Two of my favorites are Jonathan Davis (Star Wars books) and RC Bray (The Martian). Also, Maya Angelou was brilliant!

@starsandrobots It's all down to the narrator. IMHO the better ones are read by the author.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
