There exists front- and back-insertion SMT header. I want to build a board with drills and header that would let you feed through-hole leads
But the F/B header today doesn't seem good for T.H. (contacts too far spaced, good for DIP only pretty much) Anything I should know about?

This kind of part would be ideal, if those contacts would actually crimp around a through-hole component's lead:pic.twitter.com/hYtXLXWTxe

@starsandrobots currently investigating this concept! Have you found anything encouraging?

@starsandrobots Machine-pin sockets? -
@rrmutt ooh, if there was an SMT version with the openings facing board-side, that'd do the trick! -
@rrmutt whoah, neat!

@starsandrobots I'd love to see that work. I use jumpers from female header to nearby breadboard. See white thing:https://twitter.com/michaelossmann/status/654341687968333824 …

@michaelossmann yep. "Stick a breadboard on it" is still the classic approach. I would do that too if it would work here!
