I imagine this would be sort of like having a breadboard on a circuit board. For solderless through-hole assembly. It'd be fun.

But the F/B header today doesn't seem good for T.H. (contacts too far spaced, good for DIP only pretty much) Anything I should know about?
-
This kind of part would be ideal, if those contacts would actually crimp around a through-hole component's lead:pic.twitter.com/hYtXLXWTxe

@starsandrobots currently investigating this concept! Have you found anything encouraging?

@starsandrobots I've wanted to do this too, could work with stacked boards but I don't think this part exists... yet! -
@jmsaltzman@starsandrobots these parts do exist. “Bottom entry” is the keyword. http://www.mouser.com/ds/2/154/20021321-125795.pdf … -
@eur_1965@jmsaltzman have you used them to seat through-hole components? i.e. would this hold through-hole LED leads? -
@starsandrobots@jmsaltzman no, pins probably too small. These are 50 mil pitch headers, it might work.
