Working on some hardware designs today. My next project is a dream come true for me, and for anyone who taught themselves to build circuits.

Progress update here! Week 1—I scoured Forrest Mims' books for which projects I'll work up. Going to start out with seven initial projects.
-
Week 2—deciding on ideas for design aesthetic. Gratitude due to those who've commented on my poorly sketched mockups so far.
-
Week 3 is now—finishing up some functional prototypes and planning to ship out by end of week(!)
-
If I can get this right, you'll be able to put projects together more easily than I think any kit has ever allowed for previously. Fingers X

also, project name! — "Circuit Classics"

@starsandrobots this has always made me very happy to look at: http://www.timefracture.org/radio.html but maybe a little *too* classic -
@NotThatWitty aha thanks! I'll be building just projects from Forrest Mims' corpus, always neat to see this stuff though!

Finally broke EAGLE with silkscreen art so point-dense it takes about literally 30 mins to stop spinning. Not moving this twice.
-
@starsandrobots It's time to change tools :-P -
@boldport it's been time. it's been time for a long time. sigh. -
@starsandrobots PCBmodE is kind of hard to use, but it was made precisely for what you're doing. Eagle wasn't. -
@boldport yep I totally optimized for "I am 100% confident I can just do this using what I know today" on this one. -
@boldport trying to find language to describe the problem with "I know this tool so well, even its flaws" being an upside
