Preliminary answers seem to be: "Never search, only click on links"; "Give up clicking on links and use Search"; and "use Octopart"

@starsandrobots Maybe googling "site:http://digikey.com 'shielded cable'" would work as well there as it does on other stores. -
@GiantEye do you actually use this technique yourself? -
@starsandrobots for sites with shitty search like filesharing, whitepaper, lyric, and university archives. Never done it for digikey.

@starsandrobots I'm confused--how do you generally use Mouser or whatever you like to use -
@adamwwolf I have my techniques but I'm interested in yours. -
@starsandrobots I don't think digikey has great UI, but to me, not bad compared to the others, so I'm worried you have some supertechnique -
@adamwwolf@starsandrobots If you know the name of the part, then it's easy. Calling a shrouded locking male pin header a "plug" won't work. -
@macegr@adamwwolf@starsandrobots oh looking for connectors is a disaster. I want one-click add for housing & pins, +link to the crimp tool -
@kerobinso@adamwwolf@starsandrobots They do link to matching terminals and tools, but you really don't want to buy the official tool... -
@macegr yep they provide links (as of ~'05). but don't you really really want to do it in 1 click? & for repeat jobs..ah official tools.... -
@kerobinso One click might not work for terminal options like gold vs tin, accepted wire gauge, and so on....

@starsandrobots@djcapelis get the printed catalog, then use the per-catalog-page lookup. I'm not entirely joking.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@starsandrobots I only use digikey if I know exactly what I'm looking for. For parts discovery, I use the manufacturers sites.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@starsandrobots Just don't. Not unless you are forced to.@Newarkelement14 >@mouser >@digikey .@octopart rules them all.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

@starsandrobots I mean… I only ever get to digikey through octopart, or holding a model # from a manufacturer. Otherwise it's a disaster.Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
