How do you use digikey? I'm serious, where do you begin with this website. Product Index? What do people do?

Preliminary answers seem to be: "Never search, only click on links"; "Give up clicking on links and use Search"; and "use Octopart"

@starsandrobots Maybe googling "site:http://digikey.com  'shielded cable'" would work as well there as it does on other stores.

@starsandrobots for sites with shitty search like filesharing, whitepaper, lyric, and university archives. Never done it for digikey.

@starsandrobots I don't think digikey has great UI, but to me, not bad compared to the others, so I'm worried you have some supertechnique

@adamwwolf @starsandrobots If you know the name of the part, then it's easy. Calling a shrouded locking male pin header a "plug" won't work.

@macegr yep they provide links (as of ~'05). but don't you really really want to do it in 1 click? & for repeat jobs..ah official tools....

@starsandrobots @djcapelis get the printed catalog, then use the per-catalog-page lookup. I'm not entirely joking.

@starsandrobots I only use digikey if I know exactly what I'm looking for. For parts discovery, I use the manufacturers sites.
