@djc_angst the project I always wanted to do: copy impressionist paintings (textural brush strokes) onto sheet metal with weld bead
@djcapelis that sounds like the way to do it, yeah! (I also tried sharpie-ing guidelines. Sharpie burns off, as predictable)

@starsandrobots I actually have a page in one of my welding books that covers the tradeoffs of all the various ways to mark metal. -
@djcapelis omg ♡^▽^♡ -
@starsandrobots Here’s the page, the coverage isn’t entirely comprehensive, but totally relevant!pic.twitter.com/u2enrB5RH9

@starsandrobots … but you also don’t want to weld over chalk usually, introduces impurities. Chalk goes near weld, not in usually. -
@djcapelis so this raises the obvi next question I suppose — how do we do the etching? have you done this? -
@starsandrobots You could also just use a scribe with the projector trick.

@starsandrobots Part of why weld annotations tend to be done in chalk is because it sticks around better…Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo
