@starsandrobots doesnt scale. no one would buy tix at the station then. Two conductors can't check & vend to everyone between every stop.
What prevents @caltrain conductors from being able to collect fares onboard the train?

@liliakai hm what about the case of a clipper card reader on board in each car? I think people who pay at the station would keep honest -
@starsandrobots maybe if the onboard sales were always priced at max. Else you can skim a few stops before tagging to get lower fare. -

@starsandrobots@liliakai NJ Transit has onboard fare payment, but conductors check at all stops, there's a $5 surcharge, and it's cash-only -
