I feel estranged from radioland, and it makes me sad. Ever since NPR gave Jason Kessler airtime, I can barely even listen to @waitwait anymore. Am I still in radioland when I listen to podcasts? It doesn’t feel quite the same.

There's something about the synchronicity of listening to a broadcast simultaneously with others that seems to create a sense of place-ness, an ethereal bond between the myriad listeners, even if they're not interacting with each other. That's my concept of radioland, at least
