A FIRST-style model for programming would be awesome. I think FIRST is honestly likely vastly under-credited as guardians and purveyors of US STEM education today. But that’s also colored by my own twisted perspective :)

It’s also probably pretty explanatory of who I am to say that high school was one of the best things about my teen years, and a vastly better learning experience than I found at MIT.

On the other hand I think most “nerds” I’ve met either totally loved or totally hated school and the bimodal distribution of high school emotions and grades in my peers (either As or Cs-Fs) is probably the most damning measure of the educational institution itself.
