A few years ago, @ProjAlloy looked into issuing ~200 cash-backed debit cards so that we could give our grantees a stipend for meals at conferences. We couldn’t find any way to do it, so we just sat on our hands. Hello @stripe congrats on shipping another epic product!

Thanks, yeah we are just three people so distribution efficiency is actually sufficiently limiting friction. We don’t have a way to put literally anything into the hands of all of our grantees, who arrive and leave the event at different sometimes non-overlapping times.

We don’t even personally meet all of our grantees (although we do try, by holding events) so if it’s something we can put in a welcome packet - especially if it can be activated and follow merchant rules, it works. Cash itself does not sufficiently meet our needs.

I have retained bitterness over expense accounts and capped cards (that were still drawn from my own checking account until reimbursed). Stuff fails in annoying ways over minor problems like going over per diem by 2 cents
