I’ve thought about this a lot. In a region where public transit imposes huge mental and time costs to its users - it’s hard to feel good about being anti-scooter. Yes we need norms around their placement and operation. We won’t get there under ban.https://twitter.com/cjc/status/1022210739233157121 …

Rideshares operate on infrastructure designed for them. Many scooter riders operate scooters on infrastructure not designed for them. Not to say rideshares are perfect in use of roads, but scooters are dramatically worse in application on near/sidewalks.

Where do you fall on scooters and what’s the fix? I see: user training/new norms; banning scooters.. a third option? TBC I have seen enough Lyft driver bad behavior that I don’t wholly buy that they are not the scooters of the road.

(1/2) I think scooters are too early for most markets. Most companies are utilizing a model that rolls on 8.5" tires. 8.5" is perfect for newly built bike lanes, but 8.5" is not ideal for low quality surface streets in and around fast moving traffic.
