But what if companies just supported all their employees every day instead? Maybe work would feel like a joyous parade for everyone all the time

I don't see why you wouldn't, within one's abilities, create a workplace where everyone felt supported, full stop. But, on the other hand, perhaps that is precisely a workplace that acknowledges culture?

From another perspective — I grew up in a household where we didn't celebrate birthdays, in favor of "celebrating you every day" which, when compared to experiencing occasional recognition.. was not the same.

I think it’s a sign of our success that we can now get worked up over “the true meaning of Pride” the way Christians get worked up over “the true meaning of Christmas”

1) Why do you think this is an "unpopular" opinion? 2) Women & minorities & lgbtq+ folks should be at the forefront of all media (ads, movies, tv shows, books, etc.) until we normalize our existence. Right now, despite efforts made to date, we are still failing on a daily basis.

With all due respect, companies have been marketing to black Americans for decades. Most mainstream brands only started including LGBTQ+ people in their marketing in the past few yrs. And it's still legal to fire someone 4 being gay in 28 US states, so I wouldn't say we're ahead.

Well, corporate philanthropy & the NAACP has been problematic for a while. A little history shows how corp$ "supports" minorities, coopting & using them as lobbying proxies. TL/DR AT&T got minority orgs to oppose net neutrality for years.
