    Made some improvements to the landscape generation this week, including the spawning of ruins. Still all placeholder, but starting to look pretty nice!

    I'm starting out with big events like wars and diplomacy, but I'll try not to get too sidetracked in simulating the "epic" things of the "great man" view of history. There are some really cool, very detailed sims of that aesthetic, so hopefully I can make something different. 👍

    Neglecting my reading backlog to iterate on my culture generation project from last year... Starting fresh, and am focusing on making the simulation robust before adding in interactive things like NPCs. Still, couldn't help throwing an fps controller in there :P

    Not to say going full-time is always a bad idea. But, being a part-time dev is easier then ever. Great games are being made with off-the-shelf templates from the asset store. And, I'd imagine it will be even easier when we get cheap ML tools to make animations, models, music, etc

    With the difficulty of surviving as an indie and the ever-increasing accessibility of engines/tools/tutorials, maybe we're looking at a future where most indies are part-timers? Maybe we'll see less "I quit my job!" posts on /r/gamedev in the future🤔

    As an artist, try to be okay with being unoriginal. Understand that art movements exist, and that you have taken inspiration from artists that have inspired hundreds of other creators, which is both to be expected, and honestly quite beautiful. ^^

    A thread about narrative states. Suppose we have a dating sim where outcome is decided by the player's relationship stats to three characters, and the player has loads of chances to increase relationship with any/all of them. It can be tricky to reason about the design of this.
