Wow. Highly recommend taking 7 minutes away from watching Congress. The British news media perfectly captured today close-up. May all US media request to re-air this. It’s already packaged, impactful and brings clarity to the day.

Please, please, please do not let your friends and family piece together an account of what happened today from posts or conspiracies on social media. Send them our story — it’s the joint work of dozens of reporters who were on the ground.

🚨🚨🚨 Amazing statement by the Secretary of Defense. Note whom Secretary Miller and Chairman Milley did NOT speak to: President Trump. We have had something close to the de facto invoking of the 25th amendment.

On CSPAN, Rep. Jamie Raskin said that after his son died on NYE, his family wanted to be together, so his daughter and son-in-law were with him in chamber. "We wanted to be together ... I thought I could show them a peaceful transfer of power," Raskin said.

I was on the floor but I am safe with my brave staff. What we are witnessing is an attempted coup directly incited by the criminal in the White House. It will fail.

I’m in the Capitol. I’m safe, and my team and I are sheltering in place. The President of the United States has incited a riot that has now stormed the Capitol. There are rioters roaming the halls of the Capitol. I saw them with my own eyes. Our country deserves better.

A reporter is having a panic attack because we’re locked in the Capitol without any police protection, and we hear and feel rumblings underneath us. This is scary folks, especially after being labeled “the enemy” for some 4 years

MSNBC just showed live pictures of a woman covered in blood being taken out of the Capitol on a stretcher. An EMT appeared to be doing chest compressions.
