But they don't need to recall them to change or even disable autopilot. There are many more fatalities in user driven cars, but that's not interesting enough to write about.

You're missing the point. Chrysler had one guy, due to clear user error, die when their gear shifter was redesigned and recalled a million cars. That's what responsibility looks like. Autopilot keeps killing people and it's still there.

You're missing the point. A gear shifter is a physical thing. Autopilot is software that is constantly updated over the air.

So it would be much easier for them to "recall" it. And yet THEY STILL DON'T. That's the whole point. A simple software update could disable it and they still don't do it.
