I like the river metaphors you see in contemplative traditions. Standing still in a river is arduous, "letting go" and floating with the river is easeful. You never step into the same river twice. These days, when noting things, I like to say "hello water" as I observe the river.

One is like is the confluence/coalescence of two rivers (which gets used in various ways) Actually I’m pretty sure that image also shows up in _Meaningness_, although IIRC David said it was by chance that he used a similar example.....I’ll see if I can see where I asked

during my first trip I walked down to and stood naked in a river and oh boy was that water just teeming with time and life and meaningness
