People keep asking me how I feel rn, and I don't feel much of anything. This derails the conversation because apparently that must mean something "bad" or I'm disengaged. I'm not, I'm deeply engaged, I just don't have strong feelings about what's happening. Feels normal to me.
Chatted with @HanjoYoutaku about this, about how intimate conversation seems to be all about celebrating good feelings or supporting people thru bad feelings. If you don't have feelings they act like there's no "person" there to interact with. Events are happening to me tho!

I’ve had the same experience. It’s like people have a hard time understanding that different folks have different emotions around different things. It’s personal. I try to set aside any assumptions I have when asking someone how they’re doing.
The most amusing for me is when something bad happens for trans people in the news and my friend urgently calls me up and asks “How are you doing?!?!?” Thank god my wellbeing is not that tied up in remote events.
