My only point is that to evaluate some claim like "polyamory provides a less stable home environment than monogamy" (which people say all the time) you should need to have a clear picture of what arrangement that even implied No one specifies, so it's uncritically assumed true

Pro-mono arguments benefit from the fact that there's this sort of shared conceptual default of a happy, stable, heterosexual two-person marriage whether or not that's even a modal mono relationship (it's not), the lack of clear picture of what poly even looks like doesn't help
