You can always tell if someone is very spiritually developed if they tell you that they are 
I think it’s a catch-22 similar to being bisexual. Invisible if you don’t mention it, “forcing it down our throats” if you do mention it. It’s no wonder that I’ve heard the phrase “come out” used by enlightened people to discuss the topic of whether to say it in public or not.

I’ve also noticed they mostly don’t “come out” so yeah someone talking loudly about being spiritually developed is a fairly good heuristic for detecting bullshit in this regard (just don’t forget it’s a heuristic, and there can be exceptions).

Great comparison! (Ego can be your pitfall... or a defensive moat!) Claiming X COULD be a bluff, so it will invite testing. If the "enlightened guru" is not attached to the label, it could help maneuver conversations into a a certain argumentative position. Very cool!
