Sometimes you’re stuck in a room blindly groping an elephant for years, arguing with your blind comrades about it, when a teacher comes along and turns on the light switch and tells you to look again. Suddenly you exclaim “holy shit, it’s an elephant!”

This is called "seeing the elephant" or if you're the teacher, "showing the elephant". Also, I'd like to note here how patient and chill that elephant has been this whole time, give ki some love.
