I think I remember reading that sugar rushes are a placebo thing? Like, when they double-blinded sugar there was no difference between sugar and control.

Feeling validated haha. This came out of my housemate describing sugar tingles and hyperactivity, he compared it to caffeine. I feel caffeine effects strongly but not sugar.

Could it be that everybody has inner monologue, but 1. Noticing it requires a non-trivial amount of awareness, and 2. It's not strictly monologue-like for everybody, can just be a cluster of thought patterns Like some ppl think the same thought visually, some more narratively.
-
I would say without an inner monologue I am more aware

A nurse once assumed I didn't eat any sugar as my triglycerides were exceptionally low. My, was she wrong.

I am the opposite. Age 20 I used to get drunk on the sugar in lemonade (soda), and half a glass of real alcohol (lots of sugar) sent me to sleep almost immediately.
-
So sugar makes you act drunk?
