hmmm i wonder how much of antinatalism is people assuming that because their parents suck that all parents must be horrible people

I’m antinatalist because it’s insanely hard to have bad parents and not be a bad parent in turn. Anyone with bad parents should not be a parent... which I think would at least halve the birth rate?

I experienced such joy seeing my friend who had a good Dad being a good Dad with his two baby sons... who I hope and believe will also be good Dads. Sending good Dads into the world is what we need!

Abuse doesn't transmit perfectly, so having very bad parents will only make you a moderately bad parent on average. And if someone has done basic things like gone to therapy or read books on parenting, they are likely to beat the average.
