The only action I'm responsible for is giving money, and since I don't know anything about the participants I give them the same amount, but I also get the same amount as them because maybe they decide to kill me to get more money, or maybe giving the money away was illegal
this was my feeling too! Also cognitively easy, didn't have to figure out if the same people came back to the table later or not, didn't have to figure out if one person would be offended or not. We're all getting free money, all else being equal, let's spread it evenly?

Thinking about it, I would also be offended on someone else's behalf if you gave them less money and me the same amount to be fair. I might also be offended that you thought I couldn't handle others getting more money than me.
