How big/long gigs do you do? I'm a long-time employee of a consulting company (not sure what's the word in UK? professional services?) and what bothers me in long gigs (year+) is that at many places you're kind of second class citizen as a contractor, so you hear news last etc.
-
Never done more than 9 months but have done that a few times. I actively want to hear stuff last or preferably not at all. Not my monkey not my circus. I guess in consulting it’s different but it doesn’t have to be. I hate it when people start treating me like an employee.

Vast range of difficulty of tasks; small/short contracts are likely to be much more straightforward. Also a question of what you consider being 'ready' - after 40 hours of experience you can probably struggle through many jobs, but it won't be easy/natural.

I'm clearly not your target audience. just want to note that the kind of work you're doing only exists because of the kind of work that I do. guess I'll hold my tongue on the rest.
-
My perception is that the kind of work I do exists because of incompetent teams but I guess that’s not what you meant. What do you do, invent high level languages?
