Many years ago a someone called Patrick pointed out to me that in the same way women are thought of as "sex objects", men are thought of as "death objects" and it explains so much.

None the less, women’s direct purpose is sex (with death an unfortunate side effect) whereas men’s direct purpose is death (soldier / war)

Assuming a degraded state of affairs in which all people are objects of some kind (“standard-issue”), yes. Yet ordinarily people expect to be listened to, emotionally attuned to, etc. The basic fabric of healthy human society that eludes the clumsy unfeeling state/market

1. Being thought of as a death object would be unimaginably shitty and the reality of that needs acknowledgment, and 2. Being thought of as a sex object isn't an enviable, lucky, fun privilege.

Ceteris paribus, it’s better to be attractive than unattractive. The term ‘sex object’ is a sneaky term that conflates attraction with a dubious disregard for the feelings of the object of lust.
