yeah, I mean I'll always have a problem with motivation wrt jobs, jobs are just hell I'll try to get out of the rat race but now I need a source of income within the next month and doing a startup is not that

NB I thought exactly that every time I was about to get a job: I'll just get a job real quick, to have financial security, and then start working on finding a way to get out but then I was too numbed from doing the job that I never seriously worked on getting out

lol, not saying it’s *the* answer, but i took a job (security) that essentially didn’t take much brain-glucose from me, and actually allowed me hours of free time at night, just so i could pursue a startup and now i use all my free time for twitter

Why are you not contracting? I work 4 months a year and you don’t have to care it’s amazing

de jure I'm a contractor bc tax optimization don't know what the difference is de facto

Oh well, for me, contracting *is* the way out of the rat race... I like coding enough to do it for money but not to do it in my free time... so I do it for as much money as possible for as little time as possible... don't care *at all* about the job...and have 8 months off

>as much money as possible >don't care *at all* about the job yeah, same, my only requirements are remote + solid money, except I command lower rates you rate translates to ~£80k annually, my last job was ~£50k this time I plan to ask for ~55, not sure if I should push more

employers always try to capture part of the geoarbitrage difference for themselves, so just knowing where I live they can push me in negotiations more than they can push a londoner

Moving to London was part of this plan, yes. You could do that too?

yeah, as I improve the way I live my life, I think I'll start moving around more, covid willing there are places that I'd like to try living in for a while, London surely among them then again, as I improve the way I live my life I won't need jobs anymore, hopefully
