how does an adult with a few hours of free time each week "learn to code" without going to a university for it?
how does one translate those coding skills into a first job offer, and ultimately a career?

these are questions I am sometimes asked & have trouble answering, because my route into tech was atypical & dependent on a fair bit of luck, rather than any kind of status or educational pedigree. figured I'd poll the room since like half of you may be software people.
